Congratulations to Summit Academy Charter School in Coral Springs for becoming the first school in Broward County to install the ASR Threat Alert System since the inception of ‘Alyssa’s Law’ in Florida.

Governor Ron DeSantis passed ‘Alyssa’s Law’ back in June 2020, requiring all public and charter schools within the state of Florida to have a mobile panic button that goes direct to law enforcement during an emergency.

Summit Academy Charter School’s Principal – Gus Prats says, “Having this layer of protection puts our school ahead of the pack. Knowing that we now have critical live-saving technology with the simple push of a button or pendant, to protect our students and staff is fantastic.”

With our patented technology, the ASR Threat Alert System uses wireless pendants and buttons to send a direct signal to police dispatch and real-time crime centers, notifying first responders in the event of a crisis – such as an active shooter.

"We welcome this type of technology," says Coral Springs Police Department Captain - George Soberon. "Getting that information out to our officers, as well as staff at the school, and getting everyone on the same page quickly is incredibly helpful to law enforcement during a crisis."

PANIC ALARMS BECOMING STANDARD

Alyssa’s Law addresses the issue of law enforcement response time when a life-threatening emergency occurs. The law calls for the installation of warning lights and a panic alarm in schools to provide the fastest possible support during a code red situation. In a code red, every second counts.  Alyssa's Law has now been passed in the states of New Jersey and Florida.  Petitions have been started to ensure the Alyssa Law gets passed at the national level.
