We have witnessed many school shootings since the Columbine attack and the school shootings in Parkland, Florida. When mass chaos is happening, and victims are calling 911, time is lost for first responders to react quickly. The ASR school alert system removes the need to call 911 and saves time for the first responders to respond with instant text and email messages alerts to first responders and school staff. The school alert system can save time and lives for first responders who react to the call of an [active shooter or other crisis](https://blog.sos-tech.com/blog/asr-alert-system-advantages-during-active-shooter-situations) event on a school campus.  ### School Notification Systems The notification systems are engaged with wall buttons, lanyard call buttons, or the new ASR phone application. The notification systems have no limitations and can communicate in single to multi-level structures such as schools, hospitals, and government buildings. An ASR Emergency notification system for businesses is available and can be customized to your organization's needs. The notification systems utilize text, email notifications, audible alarms, and visible strobes to inform people and first responders of the active shooter threat. Additionally, ASR does offer a mobile notification system option, but relying on an APP should not be a primary option for an [emergency notification system](https://blog.sos-tech.com/blog/911-emergency-call-services-outages-in-multiple-states)**. ** ### ASR Security Alarm System The ASR Security alarm system can save lives and mitigate the threat of an active shooter. The [security alarm system](https://www.asralertsystems.com/) is a visible deterrent and, when activated, can confuse the shooter with strobes and an alarm that alerts everyone to take cover, secure entry points, and implement emergency protocols. There are many types of security alarms and wireless alarm systems on the market, but no other system provides the protection and effectiveness that the ASR security alarm system provides.  We hold the patent on our direct-to-first-responder communication.  When choosing an [emergency alert system for Schools](https://blog.sos-tech.com/blog/mitigate-threats-with-a-school-security-system), due diligence is a must. The [ASR alert system](https://blog.sos-tech.com/services-products) reduces law enforcement response time. It provides instant communication to the people facing an Active Threat, enabling them to execute their emergency protocols, ultimately mitigating losses. ### Alyssas Law Requires Emergency Notification Systems in Schools Under [Alyssa's Law,](https://blog.sos-tech.com/alyssas-law-state-locations) in remembrance of Alyssa Alhadeff (1 14-year old victim of the Parkland, FL Mass Shooting in February 2018), it mandates that an emergency notification system is installed on all public and charter school campuses to alert law enforcement for any emergencies or life-threatening situations. Alyssa's Law was passed in [New Jersey](https://blog.sos-tech.com/alyssas-law-new-jersey), [Florida](https://blog.sos-tech.com/alyssas-law) and is gaining traction in other states like [New York](https://blog.sos-tech.com/alyssas-law-new-york) and [Nebraska](https://blog.sos-tech.com/alyssas-law-nebraska).  There is even a House Resolution to pass Alyssa's Law on the [National Level](https://blog.sos-tech.com/blog/alyssas-act-alyssas-legacy-youth-in-schools-safety-alert-act).  As this important legislation rolls out across the United States, it has never been more important for schools and businesses to start thinking about risk mitigation against the real threat of crisis situations. ### [How ASR Works with Alyssa's Law](https://blog.sos-tech.com/alyssas-law-state-locations#asrandalyssaslaw) - Learn how the ASR technology meets and exceeds Alyssa's Law Standards - Learn how ASR can integrate with your current systems. - Learn why ASR is the premium [critical incident response technology](https://blog.sos-tech.com/services-products) needed in your school at an affordable price. ASR Integration Capabilities To help make active threat detection technology even more valuable for your organization, the ASR system can be integrated with other security-related systems including Video Management Systems (VMS),  Access Control Systems, Public Announcement Systems (PA's), and Scrolling Board Platforms.  ASR can also be integrated into Law Enforcement Real-Time Crimes Centers (RTCCs) and 911 Computer Automated Dispatch (CAD) software. Having ASR as part of your organization's incident response plan is a value-added benefit and is significant for risk mitigation.
