Alyssa's Act, Alyssa's Legacy Youth in Schools Safety Alert Act
H.R.4606 — 116th Congress (2019-2020)
Have you heard of Alyssa's Law? Alyssa’s Law addresses the issue of law enforcement response time when a life-threatening emergency occurs. The law calls for the installation of warning lights and a panic alarm in schools to provide the fastest possible support during a code red. In a code red, every second counts. Alyssa's Law has now been passed in the state of New Jersey and in the state of Florida. Petitions have been started to ensure the Alyssa Law gets passed at the national level.
The Alyssa Law was named after 14-year-old Alyssa Alhadeff, who lost her life in the Stoneman Douglas School shooting. Investigation of the tragedy found that insufficient response time was found to be a contributing factor in the loss of life. The Alyssa Law would require all public elementary and secondary schools to install either silent panic alarms or alternative emergency mechanisms approved by The Department of Education. Now that Alyssa's Law is in effect in New Jersey and Florida, legislation has been inspired at the Federal Level. H.R.4606, known as Alyssa's Act or Alyssa's Legacy Youth in Schools Safety Alert Act addresses school security by, among other requirements, mandating that each elementary school and secondary school have an alarm to alert local law enforcement authorities and emergency responders about a safety issue at the school. It conditions receipt of funds by a local educational agency upon each elementary and secondary school served by such agency being equipped with at least one panic alarm for use in a school emergency.
This very important legislation has been in committee for over a year now. If you wish to see this legislation pushed further at a more rapid pace, you can reach out to the sponsors of the legislation below.

ASR Alert Systems is the Superior Solution for Alyssa's Law
An industry-leader solution to these mandated communication systems is ASR technologies. ASR Alert Systems feature state-of-the-art notifications directly to Law Enforcement and First Responders. When the threat button is pressed, first responders are not only able to get on-scene as fast as possible and they are provided with the exact location of the threat. The Stoneman Douglas Shooting was the second-worst school shooting in American history, but Alyssa’s Law and ASR Alert Systems can help make our schools safe again and give Law Enforcement the tools needed to save lives.
ASR Alert Systems is a PATENTED technology that communicates DIRECTLY with law enforcement (Not 911 which is not direct to law enforcement but instead is a call center than then has to connect with law enforcement). By directly communicating with those who will respond to the crisis event, we save precious time and alleviate immense confusion. During the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Active Shooter event, police were dispatched initially to the wrong location, officers didn't know where in the building the shooter was and many precious lives (and minutes) were lost. Alyssa's Law and ASR Alert Systems can help avoid a repeat of these unfortunate circumstances during any future active shooter or crisis events.
Now is the time to act. As Alyssa's Act, Alyssa's Legacy Youth in Schools Safety Alert Act remains in committee, it is only a matter of time before the legislation is voted on and likely enacted across the country. Your school can get ahead of the curve today with ASR Alert Systems.
